Older people can no longer be shut out of development policy and programmes. This is not about a single generation of older people, but how we look after people throughout their lives.

The new framework for post-2015 is now in its final stages of deliberations but we must be careful of pushing sectional interests above holistic approaches unless there is evidence that requires it.

We must ensure that older women’s rights are protected and that their contributions to society are recognized.

The Post-2015 Development Agenda will need to complete the unfinished MDGs and respond to new challenges, taking into account population dynamics.
