AFE-INNOVNET is setting up the necessary framework to mobilize and support a wide uptake of smart and innovative solutions for age-friendly environments solutions which have demonstrated a positive socio-economic impact.

In Europe, communities are looking at housing solutions which safeguard the needs of older adults and also provide housing and services in a new way.

Community AGEnda ran a photo contest, “Friendly Places, Friendly Faces,” in which we challenged photographers and, indeed, anyone with a story to tell, to submit photos that captured some aspect of an age-friendly community.

We should seize this moment to create communities where we can grow old, and where we want to grow old.

Livable communities are communities that people want to be in. They want to be in the community because it’s a vibrant place. I challenge anyone to tell me what city in the U.S. — or the world — is vibrant and livable yet filled with a lot of sick people.
